Talk Back Theatre formerly produced two staged readings per season, one in the spring and one in the fall. We selected plays for reading through an open call for submissions.
These readings were the artistic centerpiece of a community conversation around important, pertinent issues. Once a play was selected, TBT brought together community leaders and topic experts to support a community conversation around the play and the questions it raises. Each reading featured a talkback panel after the performance to help spark the discussion with audience members. Our staged readings were free and open to the public, with the option to make a donation of any amount.
After some major changes for the Talk Back Theatre team, we shifted gears going into 2020 to offer a playwriting prize, so we can continue to seek out fresh stories about important issues. Learn more about Talk Back Theatre's Playwriting Prize here.
